About Me
Charles Wecker’s music is an intimate conversation across Roots and Americana music sung and played on guitar, mandolin, and piano. Born in Chicago, raised on the Western Slope, and calling Mancos, Colorado home, his songwriting and musicianship draws on over 20 years of experience performing, playing, writing, and educating.
Beginning as a 12 year old bass player and power chord guitarist, Charles shortly after discovered singer-songwriters such as Bob Dylan, and began playing throughout Colorado’s North Fork Valley opening for acts like Opie Gone Bad, appearing on KVNF community radio, and playing in bands with friends.
Moving to Durango, Colorado for school, he continued to open for bands, and deepen his love and appreciation for music before moving back to Hotchkiss, Colorado where he began teaching lessons on guitar and bass and learning to play piano. Teaching on and off for the next decade, he eventually found his way to Mancos, Colorado where he runs a successful teaching studio across guitar, bass, mandolin, and piano serving Southwest Colorado.
In late 2024 a batch of songs began to come to fruition that would result in his debut album “Clouds,” available everywhere on October 24th, 2025 and on CD today! Featuring deft guitar work, original melodies, and an intimate showcase of what music in Colorado has to offer, The Big Takeover says his music is “An inspiring and optimistic vista that makes us want to strive forward rather than glance back.”
His live act is a great chance to hear original tunes, some old favorites, and traditional music. Charles' music is a conversation and portrait of the world around us, focusing on the natural world, life in the rural American West, and introspective topics. His music straddles the line between Americana, Folk, Singer-Songwriter, and Bluegrass finding inspiration from bands as diverse as Wilco, Neil Young, Jason Isbell, The Carter Family, Guy Clark, Tim O’Brien, and Norman Blake.
